I took these nutrients during chemo:
- Fish oil 2000 – fights chemo brain
vitamin A 20,000
Beta Carotene – (except if on 5-Flouroucacil)
b6 50
vitamin c 4000
vitamin d – 2000 ius
vitamin e 400
zinc 50
selenium 200
chromium 200
kelp 1 tsp – or 3 caps
garlic caps
L glutamine 3000 – helps mouth and digestive track
co q10 1000 – prevents damage to your heart
melatonin (at night) 20 mg.
Jarrodophilus + FOS – Acidophilus – 3 teaspoons 3 times a day
jarrodopilis and fos 3 teaspoons 3 times a day - Grape Seed Extract
I liked to eat yogurt when feeling delicate. (It’s good for your wrecked digestive track). Green tea is also easy to take, and fights the cancer. When feeling almost normal I ate plenty of vegetables especially, garlic, onions, cabbage, and carrots. I ate lots of fruits and I tried to include flax seeds, flax seed oil, and tofu.
Don’t eat grapefruit or tangerines.
Don’t take beta carotene if you are on 5-fluorouracil
I know that some people say that the nutrients will also protect the cancer cells. So I was pretty careful. I based my routine on well researched advice from my naturopath, Sat Dharam Kaur, and her book, The Complete Natural Medicine Guide to Breast Cancer.
Chemo was the most horrible thing I ever had to do. And I’ll never be the same. But I’m still alive, and I’m glad I did it.
Peace

Dear Rhonda,
I find your website very inspiring and wanted to write personally.
My wife has recently been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer – two tumors in the right breast and 3 lymph nodes. She has just started AC chemotherapy, which will be followed by an operation (full breast removal), more chemo and radiotherapy. Her cancer is hormone negative and HER2 negative, but HER1 positive. I am confused as to whether this means it’s triple negative or not.
I have been doing a lot of work researching diet. We have decided not to take supplements during the chemo, apart from some zinc to boost white blood cells, but she is on a strict diet with low sugar, no white carbs and lots of fruit and vegetables, alkaline foods, bicarbonate of soda, and lean meat, poultry, fish, beans, lentils.
My main question is about supplements: I would very much appreciate knowing what supplements you would recommend after chemo to build up the immune system and to take longer term to help prevent re-occurence. Is it the same as the list you posted in Jan 2010 to take during chemo or is it different?
I would also really appreciate a more detailed eating plan. You seem to have amassed a huge amount of knowledge and we sure could benefit from it. I particularly have questions about food high in natural sugars like pineapple, mango, grapes, carrots.
Many thanks again for your inspiring site.
regards
Ben Westwood
